I spent over three weeks as a patient at Alrenheim Skilled Nursing Facility. While there, I received excellent care from the wonderful compassionate people that work there. I was in a large private room that was kept clean and comfortable. The food there was excellent, and the variety was impressive. If a skilled nursing facility is needed for a loved one, this is the place to bring them To all those working at Altenheim, well done! And thank you so much.

Someone can always find wrong somewhere, especially nursing homes. IDC what they say, this is the best you'll find on the Southwest side of Cleveland!! Food is great and balanced meals, room is clean, staff I appreciate are very friendly and helpful, real people answer the phones they DO NOT ignore calls coming in which is popular elsewhere. My family member is happy here. It is a very professional place and our family member has been in there now for 6 months. He has had some improvement but the important detail to be noted, he has not Declined living here. God bless the staff who dedicate their time and care to the residents. Update:: be careful if you have a loved one in Memory care. They sit all day long in a locked chair and get edema quickly!!! It happened to my mom so fast from not doing walk assists enough and putting their legs up.

I think the staff at Altenheim went above and beyond with my mother's care. Special thanks to Audra for taking time out of her busy schedule each day to give me updates in regard to my mother. I would recommend Altenheim to anybody that is in need of their services.

Mom was only at the Altenheim Memory Care facility for a few months, but it was obvious from the start how much the staff really cares for all the residents. The moment she arrived plenty of caretakers flocked to her room to welcome all of us to the facility. Mom was not a very sociable person and dementia made it more difficult. The staff always encouraged her to participate and she did enjoy the visits from the therapy dogs. Once Mom started to decline, we made the difficult decision to call in hospice. The staff at Memory Care worked very well with hospice and together they met all of Mom’s needs until the end. The staff at Altenheim Memory Care were supportive of our family once Mom did pass and even though we only knew them a few months, it was obvious how much they cared for Mom. I would recommend this facility for anyone wishing to give their loved one the best care possible for dementia.

My Mom moved in at Shurmer Place Memory Assisted living in April when it first opened. This has been a really good move for her coming from nursing care. She is walking again and much happier. The facility is beautiful and has a large open area that feels home-like. The staff are all top notch, very attentive and caring and want to be involved with their daily lives. The staff are all trained in helping residents with dementia, and are very patient. This facility has many special people that work here and make this a special place. They engage the residents in activities and keep them busy. They are even willing to help with special requests, they were able to help my Mom make pies!!!

Dr.Smucker is readily available and has got to be the foremost gerontologist in the area. He kept my father alive, despite multiple medical emergencies.

The staff is well-selected for friendliness, professionalism, and diligence. The facilities are spotlessly well-kept inside and out. They are expanding and are an integral part of the community.
Given the high level of acuity and end-of-life issues, problems will arise inevitably. But, I always found prompt and respectful resolution of problems, people were always available and willing to help, and the needs of the residents were always cared for.

I searched and interviewed over 10 Skilled Nursing Facilities in the Cleveland area before selecting Altenheim. I can honestly say I never regretted choosing Altenheim. The friendly, highly-competent staff gave my father a priceless gift, that of comfort and contentment in his final years.

I'm a volunteer at Altenheim and Shurmer Place Memory Assisted Living. I bring my therapy dog in once a week and really enjoy it there. The staff is professional and friendly. They know each resident by name and treat them like family. If I have to miss a week for personal reasons, I truly miss being there. (The residents even sent a homemade get well card for my dog when she was under the weather.) Shurmer Place Memory Assisted Living is a beautiful facility. When I arrive, the residents are gathered on couches and chairs by the fireplace, either playing a game or doing a fun activity. I'm always welcomed like family by staff and residents. They greet us with a big smile and a loving heart.

Just moved my mom into Memory Care Assisted living at the end of May 2018. I am very happy with our choice. Altenheim is a not for profit facility and they put their emphasis on the residents. The facility is brand new and all of the staff are trained to care for residents with dementia and alzheimer's.
All of their employees are very friendly and extremely helpful. They have activities all day long and my mom is more active now than she has been in years! I would highly recommend Altenheim to anyone looking for a great place to provide care for a loved one.
