VCA Capital is truly amazing and wow- what an incredible team. The Doctors, Nurses and Front desk staff go above and beyond for you. They are highly skilled, compassionate and genuinely care for your fur baby.

My 14-year-old English Bulldog was diagnosed with an aggressive Bone Cancer-- Osteosarcoma-- in March 2024. VCA quickly scheduled and educated us about available treatment options. Dr. Weinstein (surgery), Dr. Treuil (radiation), Dr. Strottner ( chemotherapy) and their team are very experienced, responsive, patient and caring. We never felt pressured and answered our questions at all times.

As of August 2024, my pup is pain free, alive, and very happy. She received CT scans, bone and spleen aspirates, radiation, a leg amputation and chemotherapy-- all back to back. She did well for all treatments, loved going in for treatments because of the treats/snuggles, and as of today-- has no signs of cancer!!

While we understand the cancer may appear at a later date-- we are so thankful for the additional pain free, quality time with our best girl. Many thanks to the VCA Capital team for helping pet parents to find peace and comfort during such a difficult time. ❤️

I don’t even know where to start. My dog is a previous patient. I received a call this morning stating that my dog was a new patient and they wanted to change the appointment time. I told them that we lived an hour and a half away, and it was not an option to change the appointment time because we had already taken time off from work. I also explained he was not a new patient. I got another call later this afternoon telling me they had an emergency come in and they would no longer see us at our appointment time. Due to my work schedule/being out of town on the only two days they see surgical patients, it would be three more weeks before I can get my dog an appointment. It’s already been two weeks since I made this appointment. They very much made me feel like my baby was not important to them today. Now my dog will have to live in pain for three more weeks before we can have a surgical consult, and Lord knows how long until I can actually get him in for surgery. We don’t have many other alternatives and may still likely have to use this vet But they very much made me feel like my baby was not important today.

I have been coming to Vca since October of last year, and I can say without a doubt that this has been some of the best vet care I’ve received.

Dr Strottner, Dr Treuil, and Dr Weinstein are amazing, you can really see the passion in their work. I also want to especially thank Tabby (as well as all of the other wonderful techs), she was just so kind and it really made me feel good taking my Dori there.

Your animals are in such good hands with them ?

My dog, Luna, has finished her radiation treatments today and I am so glad to report that all has gone even better than I had allowed myself to hope. She has a rare type of mast cell cancer—oral—and the tumor was large before I discovered it. Naturally it would be premature to assume it’s completely gone but it looks gone. We’ll see, and do whatever is needed next, but this is the best outcome I could have hoped for and now I have lots of hope for her future. She’s not even 5 years old yet. I can never thank Dr. Treuill and staff enough. I am eternally grateful.

Dr. Treuil and his team provided us with the best care and service we have ever experienced in all of our dog owning years. From the initial consultation to the last radiation treatment, we were well informed and kept up to date on all the going ons with Trudy. All the staff at VCA did a fantastic job. We received text messages, photos ad videos through the whole process. Trudy needed to stay a few nights throughout the three weeks of treatment and we never once worried about her. Thank you to THE WHOLE ENTIRE team for making us feel comfortable knowing that you were taking the best care of our best girl! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

The entire staff of nurses, assistants, surgeons, doctors were so helpful and treated our dog with care and compassion. From Dr. Strottner's initial consultation to Dr. Weinstein's surgery, we can't say enough good things about our experience working with them!

Cancer is never an ideal situation, but the doctors, nurses, and staff at VCA are with you through the entire process. Bandit's case required all specialists to be engaged. Our first round of treatment was with Dr. Weinstein. Bandit's tumor growth required amputation and I'm so glad Dr. Weinstein was there to walk through the procedure. I was concerned about Bandit going under anesthesia because of Bandit's age and losing blood pressure when having his teeth cleaned at my primary vet. Dr. Weinstein allayed those concerns, and Bandit came out of his surgery as a healthy little tripod. Next, after recovery from surgery we worked with Dr. Treuil for radiation therapy. I will say that Dr. Treuil and his team of radiation therapists (hi Paddy and team!) were perfect. You could tell they genuinely cared about Bandit! It was very heart warming. Finally we're making our way to Dr. Strottner. She's been awesome at outlining chemotherapy for Bandit, and explaining the scenarios and symptoms. Last shout out to Verang and Alexia the front desk folk. They're so friendly! Our journey with Bandit is still ongoing, but I'm glad to have VCA with us.

Update: Thanks to AVES (not VCA), my cat is doing great. No invasive, stress-inducing procedure to the tune of $8k+ necessary. I can't speak to their care, but I highly recommend getting a second opinion before blindly following their recommendations.

This company's motto should be Profit over Pets. My experience is what non-vet, corporate-owned, publicly traded veterinary medicine looks like. The highest priority is shareholder satisfaction. They are owned by Mars, a CANDY BAR company.

If thousands of dollars are outside your budget and you want solutions instead of a sales presentation, save your consultation fee dollars and go elsewhere. The oncologist I saw was only focused on open biopsy for over $7k and an x-ray for $750, when asked about alternatives, she would steer the conversation back to those procedures. When I replied to the email with the attached quote that I'd like to explore other options? No reply. Who does that? Apparently, VCA.

I went to another oncologist whose consultation fee was $40 less. We discussed the situation at length; it was their medical opinion that while a biopsy is the gold standard, looking at her medical records, lack of symptoms, and overall presentation at the time of the appointment, going to such measures at this time is most likely not necessary. I left armed with knowledge and a plan.
